Objectives

• After the course student will be able to explain the key-areas and good practice guidelines of infection prevention and control in healthcare settings. Student can also explain infection prevention and control in different patient group care.

Content

• Chain of infections
• Additional precautions for specific transmission routes
• Hand Hygiene
• Clinical microbiology laboratory actions in HAI
• Use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of clinical clothing
• Individual assessment of the risk of infection during patient admission and placement/isolation
• Respiratory label – global strategies
• Safe practices in the preparation and administration of intravenous drugs
• Decontamination of clinical devices and equipment
• Proper clinical waste management
• Environmental control and proper decontamination of hospital surfaces
• OSVE-simulations and a knowledge test about hand hygiene and common touch surfaces

Requirements

Student will complete 11 theoretical modules of infection prevention and control in healthcare, and one module of two video simulation questionnaires online.

- The assignment return platforms will open 1.6.2022, and will be closed by 15.8.2022, 23.59.
- The signing in to the course is required by 5.6.2022 in order to complete the course.
- The course evaluation and credits will be given by 25.8.2022.
