The study path of Bachelor of Engineering, Internet of Things (60 cr) is suitable for Finns or those who live in Finland permanently and who aim to get a Engineering degree. The language of instruction is English.

The Bachelor of Engineering, Information Technology (Internet of Things) programme aims to develop experts in information technology with the specialisation in Internet of Things (IoT). The degree programme qualifies engineers to work in the fields of IoT and Big Data; especially, in companies operating within the digital health and industrial internet sectors. The duties of an IoT graduate may vary from software design to electrical engineering, the design of smart wireless devices, and the whole IoT system in the cloud.
Our programme incorporates the Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate (CDIO) method to enhance students process of acquiring deep engineering know-how while developing communication, interpersonal, social and teamwork skills. IoT graduates are prepared to work in international environments and teams. 

Please note that you are not expected to have perfect English skills when you start your studies – your language skills will improve while doing the engineering studies.

Objectives
The aim of study path is to complete at least 60 credits in the Bachelor Degree Programme in Information Technology. After that you can flexibly apply for a degree student status and continue your studies in the same group as a degree student.

Contents
The study path consists of  basics of engineering, mainly the first year of studies. You will find more information about the contents of the studies here.

Study implementation
The studies start on 2 September 2021 in Kuopio. Details will be sent to your email in August.
Education is a full-time study and consists contact lessons, distance and independent learning, e-learning, project work, and practical training. Part of the studies are independent of time and place.  The studies make extensive use of electronic materials, services and learning environments, so you must have laptop of your own.
Studying requires a goal-oriented approach. The student commits to full-time study, study goals and study schedules. 

Study fee
The annual fee is € 250 and it gives the right to study for 12 months. The tuition fee is paid upon registration. 
Other possible costs include material and other costs. 

Study benefits
Studying at the Open UAS does not entitle to a study grant or study social benefits. If you are an unemployed jobseeker, negotiate your studies with the TE-Services before enrolling for the studies. If you are employed and on study leave, you can receive adult education allowances from the Employment Fund if the other conditions are met.

Enrolment and cancellation terms
Enrolment period is from 2 to 19  August and time of enrolment will start at 9 am. The study places will be filled in the order of enrolment. See the privacy statement for how and where the information you provide on the enrolment form will be used.
Enrolment in open studies is always binding. The registrant accepts the cancellation terms when enrolling. A student of the Open UAS is granted the right to study limited in time and content. The right to study cannot be exchanged for other studies or transferred to the next academic year. If you cancel or interrupt your studies, the fee will not be refunded. The fee will only be refunded if Savonia University of Applied Sciences cancels the education.
