Objectives

Part (A)

• Student knows the standard framework related to the environmental management, including environmental management systems, life-cycle analyses and its applications, and standards for addressing the climate change.
• Student can position and identify the standards and related tools to the broader framework of sustainable management.
• Student knows methods and tools available for different sectors and assess their suitability for different end-user needs.

Part (B)

• Students learn to identify some commonly used sustainability labeling schemes and understand how these schemes are used to promote sustainability in business by helping consumers make informed decisions.
• Difference between ecolabels and other sustainability tools, like management systems is also discussed.

Part (C)

• Students learn tools and methods for Environmental Management Systems for SMEs.

Content

This is a course to study Green standards, ecolabels and environmental management systems without any classroom lessons.
The material is made by several polytechnic schools in Finland. The assignments are divided to personal or small group exercises.
The whole course includes 3 parts:
1. Green standards framework (2 ect)
2. Ecolabels (1 ect)
3. Environmental Management Systems for SMEs (2 ect)

The course and exams will be opened on 1.6.2021 and will be closed on 31.8.2021 at 11.55 pm.
